I'm so excited! I just got another babysitting job. The Bookman Family lives three doors down from us and they have two kids. Ben is three years old and his sister Bianca is five. They love when I read to them (and so do their parents.)
Here’s some of their favorites that I borrowed from the library:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle - the kids love seeing what the caterpillar eats. Can you believe it...that they didn’t know that caterpillars become butterflies?
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See by Bill Martin - the kids fight over turning the pages to see what comes next. So much fun!
Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton - the kids love seeing what the animals are wearing (and how one keeps making funny mistakes with his clothes.)
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak - I loved this when I was little and these two love it just as much. They love pretending to be wild things with me.
What are your favorite books to read to kids?
Each of my family members uses the services offered in their own way. My daughter Bernadette loves music (especially those boy bands...) and uses Hoopla Digital to listen to all her favorite musicians. She gets so excited when she can borrow a new album the day as it is released in the stores. Bernadette also requests cds from the catalog. Those headphones are always in her ears!
Billy wants to be a comic book artist when he gets older. He enjoys reading comics, graphic novels, and often borrows books about drawing. Like his sister, Billy takes advantage of Hoopla Digital which has a collection of comic books and graphic novels. From Batman to Peanuts, he never runs out of books to read!
My wife brenda commutes on the train to the city each day. Her morning routine includes reading digital magazines that she downloads from Zinio. She loves getting an email every time a new issue is available. Since BCCLs has been providing zinio, we've haven't had to purchase our own magazine subscriptions. That's just one of many benefits of living in a community with a bccls member library!
We all enjoy browsing the catalog and finding just what we need.
